Shipping Terms & ADR / Non-ADR Compliance

This document outlines the shipping, courier, and compliance terms applicable to all services provided by DGS Recovery LTD across the United Kingdom and Europe.

Shipping guidance

DGS Recovery LTD provides clear guidance on what we can and cannot transport, how ADR goods are handled, and the documentation we require for cross-border movement. If you are unsure whether an item is accepted, contact our operations team before booking.

1. Scope of Services

DGS Recovery LTD provides vehicle recovery, vehicle transport, automotive logistics, courier delivery of automotive-related products, and secure transportation of documents and equipment. All shipments are subject to availability, regulatory compliance, and acceptance criteria defined below.

2. Non-ADR Goods (Standard Courier)

Definition

Non-ADR goods are items not classified as dangerous goods under the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR).

Examples of Non-ADR Goods

  • Automotive spare parts (non-fluid, non-pressurised)
  • Vehicle documents & paperwork
  • Keys, key fobs, remotes
  • Emergency kits (non-hazardous)
  • Tools & accessories
  • Branded merchandise
  • Dry batteries (where permitted by carrier)
  • Secure envelopes and document packs

Handling & Transport

  • Shipped via standard courier or postal services
  • Tracked delivery available
  • Tamper-evident packaging for sensitive items
  • Proof of Delivery (POD) upon request

3. ADR Goods (Restricted & Conditional)

Definition

ADR goods are items classified as dangerous or hazardous under ADR regulations, including flammable, corrosive, toxic, or pressurised materials.

Examples of ADR Goods (Conditional Acceptance)

  • Automotive fluids (oil, brake fluid, coolant)
  • AdBlue® containers
  • Lubricants and greases
  • Batteries (wet, lithium, or high-capacity)
  • Aerosols and pressurised containers

Acceptance Conditions

ADR goods are only accepted when:

  • Properly declared in advance
  • Correctly packaged, labelled, and documented
  • Transported in compliance with ADR regulations
  • Approved by DGS Recovery LTD prior to dispatch

DGS Recovery LTD reserves the right to refuse any ADR shipment that does not meet regulatory or safety standards.

4. Packaging & Labelling Requirements

All goods must be securely packaged to prevent leakage, damage, or contamination. ADR goods must display correct UN numbers, hazard labels, orientation and handling marks. Incomplete or incorrect packaging may result in refusal or delay.

5. Prohibited Items

DGS Recovery LTD does not transport:

  • Explosives or firearms
  • Illegal substances
  • Unauthorised hazardous materials
  • Perishable food items
  • Live animals
  • Cash, precious metals, or valuables (unless contractually agreed)

6. Documentation & Customs Compliance

For cross-border shipments, clients are responsible for providing:

  • Accurate shipment descriptions
  • Customs declarations
  • Commercial invoices (where applicable)
  • Proof of ownership or authorisation
  • Brexit-related documentation (UK ↔ EU)

DGS Recovery LTD may assist with documentation preparation but assumes no liability for incomplete or inaccurate client-provided information.

7. Insurance & Liability

Standard liability applies in accordance with applicable UK and EU transport conventions. Additional insurance coverage is available upon request. Liability does not extend to indirect or consequential losses. High-value items must be declared prior to shipment.

8. Right of Inspection & Refusal

DGS Recovery LTD reserves the right to inspect shipments, verify contents against declarations, and refuse or suspend transport where safety or compliance is compromised.

Compliance Statement

DGS Recovery LTD operates in full compliance with UK and EU transport regulations, including ADR requirements for dangerous goods. All shipments are subject to regulatory acceptance and safety assessment.
